About Tidiness:

When I was working at Westlaw my boss told me I was “tidy-minded.” I’m not entirely sure he meant it as a compliment, but I loved it because I think it’s a requirement for achieving my (not entirely tongue-in-cheek) goal in life [AKA: the eradication of the miscellaneous category] and because it figures in one of my favorite books: Have His Carcase by Dorothy L Sayers.

“Well, I’m sure if anybody can tidy up, you can, Inspector. You impress me as being a man with an essentially tidy mind.” -Lord Peter Wimsey

About Me:

Samantha Bailey has been leading user-experience projects, directing teams and guiding professionals in their career development for over fifteen years. My experience has run the gamut from startups to fortune-500 companies and I’ve been responsible for both business development and operations. I have a solid track record leading high-performance user-experience teams and am particularly adept at fostering teams with high rates of retention. I am interested in all facets of user-experience but information architecture and usability are my passions.

For the past six years I’ve run my own UX consulting business, SIFT UX, and have partnered with other talented designers and student interns from Kent State University’s Information Architecture & Knowledge Management program to provide a full suite of user experience design services including heuristic evaluation, user research, information architecture, interaction design, and usability testing. In addition to consulting, I serve as an adjunct instructor at Kent State, teaching user & task analysis and advanced information architecture.

Previously, I was the Director of Usability at Thomson West for the interface and Vice President, Information Architecture for Prior to joining Wachovia, I was Vice President of Operations at Argus Associates, a pioneering information architecture firm.  My clients included AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Vanguard and the Weather Channel.
